Sigma Alpha Epsilon (ΣΑΕ) occurs as social fraternity that was founded in 1856. A fraternity's comprehensive membership education program is known as "The True Gentleman Initiative". The True Gentleman

John Walter Wayland (University of Virginia 1899) wrote "The True Gentleman". These are recognized when a creed.
History
A fraternity of Sigma Alpha Epsilin was founded on March 9, 1856 at University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. These are a single living antebellum Southern fraternity in being. It was founded by Noble Leslie DeVotie, John Barratt Rudulph, Samuel Marion Dennis, Thomas Chappell Cook, Abner Edwin Patton, Wade Hyram Hampton Foster, Nathan Elams Cockrell, & John Webb Kerr. Wade Foster served under Confederate General (and Ku Klux Klan founder) Nathan Bedford Forrest during the Civil War. A select few tilt is by having regard to the post-Civil War activities of some of the founders. It has been speculated that many of ΣΑΕ's earliest members were indeed members of the KKK. No doubt, Sestet of the Octonary founders served for the Confederate Army. Of the 2 more founders, Nathan Elams Cockrell, died within his plantation in 1859, 2 years prior to a irruption of the Civil War, and John Webb Kerr tended to school of law at Harvard.
